The Cottage

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, White Rose Cottage offers an idyllic retreat for those seeking a truly unforgettable getaway.

The traditional stone cottage, a former barn built in the 1700s, seamlessly blends modern comfort with rustic charm, offering a home away from home. Situated in the gardens of our family home, but retaining privacy, the cottage forms part of a set of original farm buildings and is surrounded by lush greenery, rolling hills, and quaint villages.

For those seeking tranquillity, White Rose Cottage provides a cosy haven where guests can unwind beside a crackling fire or enjoy a peaceful evening in the private garden.

Whether it’s a romantic retreat, an adventure with a friend, or a solo exploration, the cottage promises a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, leaving guests with cherished memories that will linger long after their stay.

The one-bedroom cottage sleeps two guests, offering a luxury super kingsize bed (which can also be split into a twin). Timeless interior design and carefully curated details are coupled with modern comforts such as superfast WiFi broadband, Nest heating control for the oil-fired central heating and hot water, Smart TV, Sonos speakers and a high-pressure shower. EV charging is also available.

The Ground Floor

The entrance door leads into the living room, a cosy area with a comfortable sofa, Scandinavian-designed armchair and a jute rug and footstool. The room is decorated in calming neutral hues, and two John Edward Grey prints adorn the walls. An Abigail Aherne coffee table provides space for drinks and magazines and lamps and period lighting allow you to create your chosen mood and the wall mounted flat screen smart TV includes Netflix for those times you want to relax after a day’s exploring. Or you could just curl up and enjoy the view from the two sash windows that look out over the gardens. For cooler months there is a wood burning stove. A selection of books (including OS Maps and walking books) and games are provided and there is a Sonos speaker which guests can connect to listen to music and radio. This room is also where you will find the Nest thermostat.

Off the living room, the well-equipped kitchen boasts Karndean flooring and includes everything you would expect to find. It has a contemporary feel and offers an electric fan oven, grill, four ring induction hob, microwave, 70/30 fridge freezer, full size dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle, cafetière, iron, ironing board and a free-standing fan for warmer months. There is a dining table with two chairs from which you can look out over the garden as you enjoy your meals. There is a further sash window above the large sink. Everyday essentials are provided to save you having to bring them with you; sugar, salt and pepper, washing up liquid, dishcloth, washing up sponge, tea towel, oven gloves, apron, kitchen roll, cling film, tin foil, baking paper and hand wash.

On the other side of the living room, at the bottom of the stairs, a door leads into the bathroom. With a modern feel, it includes a large walk in shower with excellent pressure. There is also a WC, vanity unit with sink, waterfall tap and a mirror overhead. There is also a glazed window and an extractor fan. The towel radiator can be used as part of the central heating or independently in the warmer months. Luxury hand wash, body wash and shampoo are provided, as are a supply of toilet rolls, towels and a bathmat. The slate effect Karndean floor completes the bathroom perfectly.

The First Floor

Stairs to the bedroom lead up from the living room, where you will find a huge superking bed with luxurious high thread count bedding, perfect for enjoying a holiday lie-in. Two sash windows to the front of the bedroom mean you can lie in bed and enjoy the views in comfort. Or if you prefer, the wall mounted smart TV (Netflix included) is at the perfect height to watch TV or a film in bed. You will also find a Sonos speaker and hair dryer in the bedroom.

The bedroom is furnished with a hand painted double wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table with mirror and stool and a pair of bedside cabinets. There is a further glazed sash window to the rear of the bedroom.

A triptych of pretty botanical drawings by Peter H Raven complement the decor and the natural surroundings of the cottage.

Outside

Directly outside the front door there is an enclosed gravel courtyard with a low, original stone wall, bordered by mature shrubs. Comfortable garden furniture provides an ideal dining space during the warmer months, and a fig tree overhangs the courtyard providing natural shade – guests are welcome to help themselves to the fruit. There is also a BBQ within the courtyard available for use.

Located in front of the courtyard is the walled cottage garden. Here you will find a lawned area with well-established borders, and a blossom tree which is stunning in spring. During the warmer months guests are able to enjoy the outside space via the comfort of their own lounging furniture, perfect for enjoying your favourite book in the summer sun.

There is ample off-road parking available at the cottage, as well as an EO Electric Vehicle Charging Point available (charged as per kWh usage). All you will need is your own charging lead (EVCP – 7.2KW, Type 2 Socket, Fast Charger).
